For those of you who play a lot of games and annoyed by ads on your rooted Android device, there’s an easy way to get rid of ads by using AdAway APK.
Now, you will have to have a “rooted” Android smartphone or tablet as this app does not work on stock phones. While it is not recommended to block ads since a lot of app developers spend a lot of time to develop apps and rely solely on advertisement revenue, there may be where AdAway may be useful for certain games that have annoying ads that don’t go away.
Installation is easy, just install the APK and block ads using the AdAway APK. Now, this app simply blocks ad-serving URLs by blocking them in your /etc/hosts file and this app is 100% open-source that you can trust.
While I don’t use this app personally, I have it installed on my 8-year daughter’s Android smartphone since she plays a ton of games and sometimes it hurts to see that she has to watch an ad before playing every game. Plus, kids are not really target for advertisements so in those type of situations, I think AdAway may help.
Again, this is probably the best Ad Blocker app that is also open source so if you are looking to block ads on your rooted Android device, definitely check this out first.
