For those of you who want to improve your low-light performance on your Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, or S10e Snapdragon models, you can install the latest Google HDR Camera HDR with Night Sight, which gives you super powers when shooting low-light photography. Of course, you will get all of the other features of Google HDR camera but in our opinion, the Google HDR camera is best for using with low-light as Galaxy S10 camera is already great during the day.
In our testing, we found the Google HDR camera Night Sight improved low-light capabilities to the point where you can actually make some decent shots in near complete darkness while Galaxy S10 struggled with too much noise and not enough light.
Above is a photo taken in complete darkness with the full moon as only light source and you can see the Galaxy S10 struggles while the Google HDR Camera with Night Sight brings up the colors and makes the photo bright enough to be usable.
In above example, the Galaxy S10 photo is too dark to even tell what it is while the Google HDR Camera w/ Night Sight brings out all the details and we can clearly see it is a putting green.
Now, the Google HDR Camera also does quite well in regular HDR+ Enhanced mode(which we recommend for low-light shots) but you can just use Night Sight as it is many times better.
How does the Night Sight work?
Google HDR Camera captures multiple images in different exposures to bring out the most light and details using clever algorithm. While Samsung has tried to copy with its own night mode, you can clearly see that it comes nowhere close. Our recommendation is to install this in case you may need to use it. In fact, we had such an issue where we needed to capture a photo in near complete darkness and the Galaxy S10 photo came out completely black while the Google HDR Camera Night Sight gave us a usable photo.
